SERVICE:
BEHAVIOR CONSULTATION
If your dog or cat suffers from behavioral problems, our staff at Central Valley Animal Hospital can help. We offer behavior solutions for the most common animal behavior problems such as:
-
Aggression: When your pet becomes aggressive with people or animals, either in the home or outside of the home.
-
Anxiety: When your pet suffers from any type of fear like separation anxiety or fear from a thunderstorm.
-
Compulsive Disorders: Symptoms include shadow chasing, tail chasing, tail biting, flank sucking, psychogenic alopecia (pulling its fur out), etc.
-
Nuisance Behaviors: This includes jumping and nipping at people or animals, digging, chewing on furniture, clothes, shoes, etc.
Pets can have a wide variety of behavioral issues, from simple housetraining problems, to severe anxiety and aggression issues. If left unresolved, behavior problems can jeopardize the joy of the relationship you and your family have with your pet. We are knowledgeable about normal canine and feline behavior and we can answer any questions you may have about general behavior issues.
Our staff will provide a behavior consultation for more complex behavioral problems, such as separation anxiety, inappropriate urination, aggression, or other problems. During the consultation, we will first look for any medical reason your pet could be exhibiting this behavior. For example, aggression when you touch your dog's ears could be caused by an ear infection. Once medical problems are ruled out as a cause, we will discuss the problem at length and look at the best options for treatment tailored to your pet.
If your pet suffers from any of these symptoms or exhibits other symptoms of a behavioral issue, please call us to schedule a visit for your pet with one of our veterinarians.
