When an unexpected emergency arises, our experienced veterinary staff at Central Valley Animal Hospital is here to meet your animal's urgent care needs. We are equipped with the expertise and state-of-the-art medical equipment to treat your pet for most medical conditions. If you have any questions about your pet’s health, please call us immediately.
We are aware that urgent care situations can happen at all hours of the day. We are available to see patients on an urgent care basis, by appointment, during our office hours, but for after-hours emergencies, we refer our patients to:

Is it an emergency?
Thankfully, most of your pet’s medical issues will not be emergencies. However, your pet may be experiencing a health issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. You need to be able to recognize the symptoms and call us immediately.
Signs of some common conditions that need immediate veterinary attention:
Pain
Dilated pupils
Severe hives or severe itching
Difficulty breathing
Rapid heartbeat
Ingestion of poison or foreign material
Bloody stools and/or vomit
Violent or prolonged vomiting or diarrhea
Bloated, distended, swollen or painful abdomen
Inflammation, swelling or other irritation to the eye(s)
Inability to urinate or defecate
Inability to deliver puppies or kittens
Heavy bleeding
Lacerations, bite wounds, penetrating wounds
Sudden blindness
Staggering, stumbling, limpness
Lameness or non-weight bearing on any limb
Paralysis
Seizure activity
Loss of balance or consciousness
Major trauma – falls, being struck by a vehicle, large wounds, broken bones
Other conditions or health issues easily identified as requiring immediate attention
