Dr. Stacey Rutledge, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Stacey Rutledge is a South Sound native who earned her undergraduate degree at Central Washington University and her veterinary degree in 2014 at Washington State University (GO COUGS!). Fulfilling her lifelong dream, she became the proud owner of Bayview in April 2020, right at the start of the pandemic. Dr. Rutledge is now one of the co-owners of Central Valley Animal Hospital (CVAH) alongside Dr. Earl VanBuskirk. Their partnership began in 2014 when Dr. Earl mentored Dr. Rutledge as a new veterinarian. After working together for four years, their paths diverged, but they remained friends. In November 2023, they seized the opportunity to reunite as business partners and take over CVAH.

Outside work, Dr. Rutledge enjoys life on a mini-farm in Gig Harbor with her husband, Sam, and their two children, Clarity (7) and Cooper (5). Their home is bustling with four dogs, four cats, two goats, an alpaca, and chickens! Together, they embrace the outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, and quad riding, reveling in the wilderness whenever they can. Dr. Rutledge’s passion for her work is evident, and she cherishes every moment as a clinic owner.

Dr. Earl VanBuskirk, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Earl VanBuskirk was born and raised on his family’s farm in Belfair, WA, where he discovered his passion for veterinary care at a very young age. Excelling academically, he became the valedictorian of the North Mason High School class of 1999. He continued his education at Washington State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in science with honors in 2003, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2007.

After spending 8 years in Pullman, Washington, Dr. VanBuskirk seized an opportunity to work in Marathon, FL, where he engaged in general practice, emergency medicine, and volunteered for surgical cases at the Sea Turtle Hospital, Marathon Wild Bird Rescue, and local animal shelters. Despite a fulfilling experience in Florida, Dr. VanBuskirk felt drawn back to Washington. He joined Columbia Veterinary Hospital in Tacoma, where he practiced for about 6 years. During his time at Columbia he found purpose in mentoring future veterinarians helping to guide them through the application process and enjoyed watching them grow through their vet school journey. While at Columbia he also had the opportunity to mentor a young Dr. Rutledge during her first year of practice.

In 2017 Dr. VanBuskirk decided to pursue an opportunity to work for the USDA ensuring safety and health of food animals. Working for the USDA, Dr. VanBuskirk supervised veterinarians, consumer safety inspectors, and food inspectors throughout Idaho, Washington, and Alaska. While this is important veterinary work it was not the type of veterinary work he was passionate about.

In 2023, an opportunity arose to partner with Dr. Rutledge in purchasing Central Valley Animal Hospital in Poulsbo, WA. While Dr. VanBuskirk once mentored Dr. Rutledge in medicine and surgery, Dr. Rutledge now fills the role as a business mentor for Dr. VanBuskirk in their ownership and operation of Central Valley Animal Hospital.

Outside of work, Dr. Earl spends his time with his family. His wife Tricia can often be found at the clinic ensuring things continue to run smoothly. When they are not at the clinic they are usually with their daughter Siddalee at sporting events or at home managing their farm. Their farm includes pigs, chickens, goats, peafowl and cows. They also have 3 dogs and 2 cats to keep them busy.
